Talking to the Stranger: Death as a Natural and Normal Part of Life

Part Two – The Practicalities

with Juliet Grayson and William Ayot

About this event

In our last talk we discussed the inevitability of death and the ways we fear and avoid it. This tendency to prevaricate extends to the practicalities of death, often leaving us ill-prepared and unready on a host of levels. While death often comes as a surprise there are invariably opportunities to prepare. What conversations would you like to set up? What plans might you have for your passing, or what arrangements might you like to put in place? And, given our modern lives, how might we address complex issues such as resuscitation, living wills and organ donation.

In this second exploration we discuss the practicalities and necessary forethought that a ‘negotiated death’ can call for in our modern era. Through conversation, exercises and poetry, psychotherapist Juliet Grayson and poet William Ayot will explore the external practicalities, as well as the inner preparations we might like to make as we seek a ‘good death’.
